in 1880 with the same kids. I don’t find them in 1900 but in 1910 they are in
Springfield, Mass. He is widowed there in 1920 and 1930.

Putnam (1722) and his first wife Nancy Wilson, and was born here. Abigail is
widowed here in both 1900 and 1910 living with here
son Arthur. In 1910 she is an amazing 92 years old.

with them. Charles was married here in 1860 and in Minnesota in 1870. They got
divorced or he just split as his ex wife
Carrie is still back in St. Paul, Minnesota and will be through the 1910.
Louisa
Storke is the second wife and now widow of Asa Putnam. She is now 71 NY, and
lives with her daughter Lucinda Havens 42 NY and her husband Edmond A. Havens

63 NY, Helen (Mary Helen Mason) his second wife is 46 NY, Fred I. (listed as a
nephew. Fred Isaac is a son of Sebastian’s brother Isaac) 10 NY, Frank Bell
(listed as a daughter, but is his son) 35 NY. He is a son of John Putman and
Hannah Lewis and was born here. Dutch folks. He married Helen here in 1871,
several years after his first wife Philinda Ewell had
died. He and others in the family will all move to Jordan, Onondaga County
where he will die in 1891. Mary Helen will be widowed there in 1900.

He is a son of Sebastian Putman from Cato, Cayuga County. They will be in
Syracuse in the 1900. He married Pearl here in 1872.

Lewis was a son of John Putnam (#1341) and Sabra Preston from Vermont and then
Chautauqua County, New York. They are both here though the 1920 census, and
Hattie is here widowed in 1930.
He is
now 82 VT VT VT, and
widowed since Rebecca Steward has died. His daughter Levina
Durell 58 VT is with him now. There is also a farm
hand, Marion Fuller 20 NY helping out. Harvey will venture out west soon and be
with his son Harvey Cornelius in Poweshiek County Iowa in the 1885 census
there.

number 2842, one of Andrew’s sons from Stockton. He is now 78 NY, Zeruah Lawrence his wife 74 VT. Been here a while now. Zeruah will die in the next decade but Hiram is still here
in 1892 at age 90.

now 53 NY, Salina Chapman is 45 CT. He is a son of the above Hiram and Zeruah Putnam.

husband Elwood Meeder, a physician. They are

with him in 1870 in Westfield.

will be here till he dies June 4, 1896. Mary is a daughter of Isaac McDaniels and Lucy Hurlbut, and was born June 19, 1845 and
will die here March 21, 1924.

NY. He is a son of Aaron L. and Almira Putnam. He was born here February 19,
1843. He married Cornelia Angie Maynard in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 30,
1869. He will die here January 26, 1890. He is a dry goods merchant. Cornelia
will be here though through the 1920 census, still a widow. She will die here
August 31, 1921. The daughter Ada Maynard was born September 6, 1874 and will
die here June 23, 1955. She never married.
ARTHUR PUTNAM Fredonia, Chautauqua County

S. 5 NY. Arthur C. is a son of Aaron L. Putnam and Almira Osgood. He was born
here October 10, 1848. He married Adelia Shelton June 16, 1873. They will move
to Nebraska in 1887, and then will be back in Buffalo, New York in 1900. He
will die July 28, 1903. He runs a dry goods store.

Pemberton in a boarding house. Christina and Victor will be in San Francisco,
California in 1900. She is the ex-wife of Alonzo Putnam of Charlotte. They were
apart in the 1870.

and mother-in-law, Harriett Hale 58 NY. He is a son of Nathan Bancroft Putnam
and Evaline Beeman from Pomfret in 1860. He is a grocer.
Laura was born October 12, 1856 and will die here March 14, 1899. Herbert is
widowed here in 1900 and 1910. He will die here November 28, 1918.
JESSE PUTNAM Fredonia, Chautauqua County
He is
42 NY CT CT, Harriett L. Brown 36 NY NY NY, Alice 12 NY, Howard 6 NY,
William 6/12 NY. He is a son of Aaron Davis (#3356) and Abigail Putnam. He was
born here January 25, 1838, and married Hattie August 30, 1866. They will all
be here in 1900.

and Mira will never marry, and will be here through the 1900. He is a son of
Nathan Bancroft Putnam and Elmira Beaman. They were at home with her in Pomfret

42 VT, Susan 42 NY, Susie 9 NY, Emmett 25 PA, and a niece, Blanche Evans 19 NY.
Emmett is a son of George and Rebecca Putnam, also from Vermont, and was shown
at home in Corydon, McKean County, Pennsylvania in 1860. Jackson and George
Putnam are sons of George Putnam (1182) and Salina Thayer. They were born back
in Washington County, Vermont, and were in Jay, Essex County, New York by the
1850. George was in PA then, but was back here visiting in Jamestown,
Chautauqua County in 1860 (rest of the family back in PA then). George junior
died in the 1860s, and his wife Rebecca, Emmett and the other kids were in
Warren County, PA in 1870.
He
has moved from Ellington, and is now 73 NY MA MA, and
lists himself as a retired preacher. His wife Alvira Schofield is 75 NY CT CT. They are both here in the 1892 Census at ages 85 and
86.
CARL PUTNAM Hanover, Chautauqua County
He is
5 NY, the grandson of Eli and Adaline Aldrich. He is a son of George A. Putnam
and Annie E. Aldrich. Don’t know where they are now, but he will be around in
1900 with a second wife. Maybe Annie has already died and that’s why Carl is
here. George is a son of Richmond and Seba Putnam
from Awkright.
He is
17 PA NY NY and works on the Zink farm. He was with
his mother Jessie in Warren County, Pennsylvania in 1870, but no idea who his
dad was. He’s gone by the 1900.

He is a son of Aaron Davis Putnam (3356) and Abigail Lakin. He was born here
April 14, 1843, and married Flora June 18, 1874. He owns a billiard parlor.

ENG NY, Pearl 5 NY. He is a son of James Rogers Putnam and a grandson of
Gilbert Putnam number 2840. He was born in Stockton, Chautauqua County May 4,
1844. He served in the NY Cavalry in the Civil War, and won the Congressional
Medal of Honor. He was in Goodhue County, Minnesota in 1870 as a government
surveyor. . He married Angela E. Lewis in Spring Creek, Minnesota May 4, 1868.
She died in 1875. He came back here in 1875 and ran a book business. He married
Effie here in 1878. She is a daughter of William C. Mace and Cornelia DeLand
from Troy, New York. She was born there in 1852. He is currently Postmaster
here in Jamestown, and also runs a drug store. He was born May 4, 1844 and will
die here May 20, 1921. Effie is widowed here in 1930 and will die here herself
in 1931. They are buried in Lake View Cemetery here in Jamestown. The daughter
Edna Pearl was born December 18, 1874 and will die in Utica, Oneida County
August 19, 1938. She will marry George H. Norris in Utica August 16, 1899. He
was born in Rome, Oneida County June 1, 1874.
HORACE PUTNAM Jamestown, Chautauqua County
He is

is Horace Almon, son of Aaron Davis Putnam (3356) and Abigail Howard Lakin of
Charlotte, Chautauqua County. Mary will die, and he will marry Laura Griffin in
1883. They will be here in 1900. He runs a livery stable.

Clyde E. 10 NY. He is a son of Jacob Putnam of Andover, Vermont. He moved with
the family to Mayville, Chautauqua County. When his father died, the family all
went back to Vermont. He went into Massachusetts and married Hannah there in
1851 and they came back out here for good. Hannah Ellis is his second wife. He
is a carpenter.

Martha 5 NY, Fanny 2 NY. Cornelia is his second wife. She was here in the 1870
with the kids, but no hubby. He was first married to Lucy Haskins. Note the age
spread between Martha and Fanny. Cornelia is a cousin. She is a daughter of his
father’s sister Mary Putman and her husband Joseph Myers of here in Mooers. I fact his father Alvah
is living with that family right now here in town. He will return to Wardsboro,
Windham County, Vermont in a few years and remain there until he dies. The sons
Walter and John Putnam will be in Jamaica, Windham County, Vermont in 1910 and
then Walter will be in Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire by the 1920.

his sister. His wife Maria Call died here February 25, 1879. He will marry
Harriet D. Brisbin here in Mooers

buried in Susquehanna County Pennsylvania. New York Dutch Family. A’Telphine Gardner is a daughter of Peter Harris Gardner
and Adeline Sweet Richardson and was born November 17, 1851 in Tunkhannock,
Wyoming County New York and will die in Deland, Volusia County Florida
September 19, 1944. They were married in Clifford, Susquehanna County
Pennsylvania June 21, 1872. They are in Manhattan New York City in 1910 and A’Telphine will be widowed in St/ Petersburg Florida in
1920.

shortly move back to Wisconsin, and then to Oregon where he will die of a heart
attack in 1892. Caroline is widowed in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1900 and then
is in Queens County, New York in 1910 living with her then married daughter
Annie.
Jerome
is 24 NY, Eugene 21 NY. They live with Peter and Rachel Blanchard. Rachel is their
mother. In 1860, Rachel was married to a William Putnam here in Cuyler, but it
was part of Cayuga County then. They were all here in 1870. Don’t know who
William was though. He and Rachel just pop up in Oswego County in 1850.

1870. Elder Lewis died here April 17, 1880 and Catherine in 1875. James wasn’t
listed with the family in 1870 though. I think both are too you to be their
kids though, possibly grandchildren.

NY. Seymour is the son of Osgood Putnam and Mary Bryan. New England Family.
Seymour was born here in 1850 and will die in Kansas City, Kansas May 26, 1906.
He married Juliette ‘Etta’ September 9, 1874. They will split or something and
he will marry Ida Marsh November 19, 1888 and then get divorced December 24,
1890 out in Denver Colorado.

County Georgia in 1846 and that’s where Charles was born November 29, 1847. His
dad went to Europe in the 1850s. Clark died in Arcachon,
France in March 1865. Clark was a son of Calvin Putnam (1851) and his second
wife Ann Clark of Truxton, Cortland County New York. Young Charles works for
the Brooklyn Savings Bank. Charles married Elizabeth Shelton Bull here on
October 16, 1872 and she has just died July 17, 1879. He will marry Adine Morrison December 2, 1880 and they are here in 1900.

remarried, and is currently in Nevada publishing a newspaper. Harrington is a
lawyer. He will be here single in 1900 and married in 1910 and 1920.

York. His wife Abigail Devereaux has died since 1870.

be Waldo Clayton, the son of Francis Putnam and his first wife Jane Hewitt of
Holden Massachusetts. He was born July 6, 1856 and home there in 1860. His mom
died and he and his sister Ellen went to live with their grandfather Archelaus
Putnam (2166) and Laura Nichols in Holden also. He was there in 1870. According
to a birth certificate of who we think is his daughter Alice born in Rhode
Island November 16, 1889, her folks were Waldo C. Putnam and Mary A. Martin.
Waldo and Mary were married in Rhode Island April 4, 1883. Then Waldo will die
in the 1890s and Mary will marry Edmund Perry and she and Alice are with him in
Pawtucket, Rhode Island in 1900.

a son of Aaron John Derrick Putman. He was home with his folks here in 1870. He

Atkins 38 NY. She was married to Harvey Putnam from here. Harvey was a
son of Jacob and Mary Ann Putman from Litchfield, Herkimer County where he was
born. They were here in 1850 and 1860, but Lavinia was living separately. They
were back together in 1865. Later in 1865 Harvey, who was a ship’s captain, was
murdered by thieves attacking his ship. Dutch folks.

Ontario County in 1910 and 1920. Matt Putnam found a note that he wandered away
from home with his blanket and muttering something about a great pumpkin. He
didn’t die till 1905 so he is wandering around somewhere. Connecticut family

same time. He kept the Putman name and the rest of Charlotte’s kids were named
Lake. Dutch Putman family regardless.

Bureau County Illinois in 1860, and is back here in Oneida County now. They are
all in Volusia County Florida in 1885. Young Alfred will be by himself in Los
Angeles, California in the 1900 census.

Putnam. He died in Cato, Cayuga County in 1875. She moved out here with a
couple of his brothers, but will loose interest and
be back in Cayuga County in 1900, still widowed. John was Dutch, a son of Jacob
Putman and Hannah Lewis of Cato.

1910 with wife number 3, Leah. Leah is a daughter of James Annis

Henry dragged her in off the streets. Not sure who he is though. His marriage
record with Leah was on May 28, 1906 in Charlotte, Eaton County and stated his
folks were Peter Putman and Mariah Utter. He probably belongs to the families
here in Elbridge out of Cayuga County but I can’t find him any earlier.

will be here through the 1930. He’llhave a new wife
in 1911 though.

railroads and very wealthy. When he died, these kids all took mom’s estate to court. Kinda a bitter battle of
some greedy kids. Anyway, John Risley Putnam was a
Justice on the Supreme Court of New York for many years. He will die in 1899,
Mary in 1900.

Mead and Lavinia Allerton in 1865, 1870, 1875 and 1880. Then with just with
Lavinia in 1900, 1905 and 1910 and by herself there in 1920 and she will die
here May 7, 1928. Before she got married, she was with her folks in Manchester,
Ontario County New York in 1840, 1850 and 1855. She was married to
William S. Putnam, and in 1860 and they were with his folks in North East
Township, Erie County Pennsylvania. He died and she moved back up here. Eveline was born in Manchester
April 5, 1838. She was listed as an adopted daughter in 1955 when at home with
them, and again in 1865 and 1870 when she went back home after William died.
They are her folks, they adopted her it seems. She’ll be here with her mother
Lavinia Allerton through 1910 when she is 72 and her mom is 99.

Charles Henry Putnam Jr. is now 32, his wife Emma DeMoney is 32 and they have George 5 and Henry Jr. 1. He is the local Postmaster. Young Henry will die soon, but the rest are here in 1900 and there are two more sons, Fred and Arthur, by then. His dad is living with them now.

He is 26 as is his wife Jennie M. Butler. They just have Edward 1 now and will also have a daughter here in 1900. He is a son of Charles M. Putnam and Harriet E. Burrows from here. His dad is here in Deposit as well as his brother Henry. Jennie is a daughter of Edward Oscar Butler and Martha Reynolds. She was born November 29, 1866. He and the family will all be in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1920 and then back here in 1930. He is a mechanic and has a job in a machine shop there. Both he and Jennie will die here in 1936.

EDGAR P. (PIERPONT) PUTNAM Jamestown, Chautauqua County
He is
47, his second wife Mary Effie Mace 38, and their daughter Edna Pearl is 17. He
is a son of James Rogers Putnam and Maria Louisa Flagg and was a grandson of
Gilbert Putnam number 2840. He was born in Stockton, Chautauqua County May 4,
1844. He served in the New York Cavalry in the Civil War, and won the
Congressional Medal of Honor. He was in Goodhue County Minnesota in 1870 as a
government surveyor. He married Angela E. Lewis in Spring Creek, Minnesota May
4, 1868. She died in 1875 and he came back here in 1875 and ran a book
business. He was also Postmaster here in Jamestown. He married Mary Effie in
1878. She is a daughter of William C. Mace and Cornelia DeLand from Troy, New
York. She was born there in 1852. They were here in 1910. They got overlooked
in 1900, but sure he was here then too. He was born May 4, 1844 and will die
here May 20, 1921. Effie is widowed here in 1930 and will die here herself in
1931. They are buried in Lake View Cemetery here in Jamestown. The daughter
Edna Pearl was born December 18, 1874 and will die in Utica, Oneida County
August 19, 1938. She will marry George H. Norris in Utica August 16, 1899. He
was born in Rome, Oneida County June 1, 1874.
HORACE A. (ALMON) PUTNAM Jamestown, Chautauqua County
He s now 46 and his second wife Laura Priscilla Hiller is 42.
They have Bertrand Griffin 21, O. Herman Griffin 19 who are kids from her prior
marriage. Then they have George Horace Putnam 5 who is their own. He is Horace
Almon Putnam, son of Aaron Davis Putnam (3356) and Abigail Howard Larkin of
Charlotte, Chautauqua County. His family came out here from Vermont in the
1830s. He was born here February 10, 1847 and will die here March 30, 1918.
Laura was a daughter of Aaron Burr
Hiller and Lucinda Ferris. She was born in New York September 1, 1850 and will
die here in Jamestown December 5, 1932. She was previously married to John
Nelson Griffin in 1870. He died in 1876 and she married Horace December 27,
1883.

68 and lives by herself it looks like.
CORNELIA A. PUTNAM Pomfret, Chautauqua County
She is
46, her son Albert Lawrence is 11. Cornelia Angelina Maynard is now the widow
of Albert L. Putnam who died here January 26, 1890. He was a son of Aaron L.
Putnam and Almira E. Osgood from here. Aaron was number 3369, a son of Nathan
Putnam (1681) and Rhoda Gates. He was born in Stow, Massachusetts April 25,
1804. Albert was born here February 19, 1843. He married Cornelia Angie Maynard
in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 30, 1869. He was a dry goods merchant.
Cornelia will be here though through the 1920 census, still a widow, and will
die here August 31, 1921.
HERBERT J. PUTNAM Pomfret, Chautauqua County
He is
47, his wife Laura F. Hale and their kids Kate L. 14, Harriett E. 11 and
Herbert N. 7. Also here is his oldest brother Nathan A. 62 and sister Myra A.
55. Also here is Laura’s mom Harriett Hale 70. The three are kids of Nathan
Bancroft Putnam and Almira Beaman from here. Everyone will be here in 1900
except Laura who will die March 14, 1899. Nathan will die here May 11, 1905,
Myra on June 10, 1915 and Herb on November 28, 1918. Harriet Hale will be here
in 1900 at age 78.
JESSE A. (AARON) PUTNAM Pomfret, Chautauqua County
He is
54, his wife Harriet E. Brown is 47 and Howard M. (Mattison) 18, Alice L. 24
and William D. (Davis) 12. He is a son of Aaron Davis (#3356) and Abigail
Putnam from Chester, Vermont. He married Hattie August 30, 1866. He was born
here January 25, 1838 and will die here June 28, 1918.
Harriet will be widowed here in the 1920. She was born April 16, 1844 and will
die here December 26, 1934. They will all be here in 1900.
ALMIRA PUTNAM Sherman, Chautauqua County
Almira
Emery is now the widow of Royal Putnam who died here in Stockton May 8, 1881. He
is number 2845, a son of Andrew and Azuba Putnam. He
first married Nellie M. Haviland May 2, 1847 and after she died married Almira
September 18, 1853. She was born July 8, 1819. She is now 73 and is living with
her son Murray. She will be here with them in 1900 at age 81.
MURRAY PUTNAM Sherman, Chautauqua County
He is
36 and his wife Martha M. Roberts 40 and no kids . They are here through the
1920. He is a son of Royal and Almira Putnam and his widowed mom Almira 73 is
with him now and will be in 1900.
CORIDON PUTNAM Stockton, Chautauqua County
He is
61 and his wife Sally Celestia Matthewson is 48. They have now Blanche C. 20,
Edith H. 17, Fred M. 15 and Bernice 3. He is number 2894, a son of Abner Putnam
and Vesta Mallory. His first wife Louisa Fuller died in July 1870, and he
married Sally Matthewson October 8, 1871. He will die here in 1917 and Sally on
May 13, 1930.
DELOSS PUTNAM Stockton, Chautauqua County
He is
64, his wife Annette Schofield is 51 and they have Fay W. (a son Fayette) 25
and his wife Belle Hotchkiss 24. He is a son of Gilbert Putnam and Thankful
Rogers from here.
FLORILLA PUTNAM Stockton, Chautauqua County
She is
41 and boarding. She is a daughter of Elisha and Francis Putnam from here. She
was at home with her widowed dad in 1880. Elisha just died here January 15,
1884. Florilla will marry Henry Seymour here in 1895.
FRED S. PUTMAN Stockton, Chautauqua County
He is
27, his wife Hattie D. Lutgen is 24 and Leon C. is 4
and Clifford M. 2. He was born here a son of Charles Brown Putnam and Mary Ann
Hoag or Haig and a grandson of Gilbert Putnam and Thankful Rogers.
GEORGE F. (FRANCHER) PUTNAM Stockton, Chautauqua County

37 and his wife Myra Eliza Crissey 35. They have
Willie 5 and Dottie 2. His mother Eliza 66 is with them. He is a son of William
Mallory Putnam (2888) and Eliza Francher of here in
Stockton. Myra will die August 6, 1892 and he will marry Dora in 1895 and they
are here in 1900.
MARVIN A. PUTNAM Stockton, Chautauqua County
He is
36 his wife Harriet Shaddock is 36 too. The don’t have any kids. They are here
in 1900 and he is widowed in 1910. He is a son of Royal Putnam (2845) and his
second wife Almira Emery from Stockton.
GEORGE W. PUTNAM Westfield, Chautauqua County
He is
74, his wife Julia Ann Keyes 56 and Mildred is 17. Mildred wasn’t in the 1880,
so not certain how she fits. Probably a granddaughter. He is a son of Jacob
Putnam (#1882) and Mary Burton, and has been here most of his life. He was
married to Alpha Ann Van Vleet who died here in 1863.
In 1873, he married Julia Keyes. They were here in 1880, and will be in 1900.
He is a mail agent, postmaster I would guess.
WILLIAM A. (ARAH) PUTNAM Westfield, Chautauqua County
He is
37, his wife Mary Amanda Ames is 35 and they have Edwin D. 12, Harriet A. 10.
He is a physician here, and has been here since the early 1880s. He is a son of
David Edwin Putnam and his first wife Harriet Irons of Stockton. He was born
here July 11, 1854 and will die here February 16, 1931. Mary is a daughter of
David H. Ames and Clarissa Edson. She was born here in Charlotte on January 6,
1856 and will die in Fredonia November 2, 1946. They were married October 24,
1878 in Charlotte, Chautauqua County. The son Edwin David was born January 17,
1880. He will marry Helen Lunt and die in Florida, New York January 19, 1946.
The daughter Harriet Adeline was born March 4, 1882 and will die in Buffalo,
New York September 22, 1936.
DANIEL P. (PORTER) PUTNAM Essex, Essex County
He is
85 and his second wife Betsy M. Chase is 73 and Alice 35 is still at home. He
is Daniel Porter Putnam number 2142, a son of Tarrant Putnam and Ruth Chadwick
of Newbury, Orange County, Vermont. He was born there in 1806, and was there
through the 1830 census and here from then on.
ARTHUR PUTNAM Lewis, Essex County
He is
56, his wife Ellen Hinckley 52 and their son Fred 16. Also here is her mother
Martha Hinckley 91 and her sister Ledocia Hinckley 38
They were here in Willsboro, Essex County in 1880 and will be in 1900. He is a
son of Daniel Porter Putnam from here in Willsboro.
HENRY PUTNAM Moriah, Essex County
He is
45, his wife Mariah Groff is 39 and they have Roselle 19, William S. 17, John
C. 13, Alexander B. H. 10, Henry J. 7, Laura Bell 5 and Alvin D. 1. He is a son
of Stephen Putnam and Rosella Charles from Vermont. Stephen was originally from
Canada. They were here in 1880. Henry will die March 18, 1918. Maria will be
widowed here in 1920.

He is
now 79 (VT), his wife Rhoda 71 (VT). Been here forever now. He is a son of
Archelaus Putnam (number 1889) and Phebe Parker and was born back in Andover,
Vermont.
JOSEPHINE PUTNAM Moriah, Essex County
She is
30 (actually 36) and is living with her parents Joseph and Sophia Seager. She
has her kids William 13, Jessie 8, Annie 13. There is also a son Joseph 11 or
12 around somewhere. He is with Josie in 1900. Josephine Lillie Seager is now
the widow of Charles Putnam who died
here about 1885. Before that she was married to his brother John who died about
1874. John and Charles were sons of Stephen Putnam and Rosella Charles from
Franklin County, Vermont before coming out here. She is here in 1900, the son
William Charles is married here by then. She is also still widowed here in 1910
and 1920.
MELVIN PUTMAN St. Armand, Essex County
He is
44 NY, his wife Elizabeth Ormsby is 47 and they now have Thomas 18 NY, Myrtle 7
NY. He is a son of Aaron Putnam and Jane Ormsby of Clinton County, NY. He was
home there in 1870, and will be back there by the 1900 and also in 1910. For
some reason he and Elizabeth were in Missaukee County Michigan in the 1880
census. Elizabeth is a daughter of Bradford Ormsby and Caroline Ells.
HENRY PUTMAN Fairfield, Herkimer County
He is
19 and boarding or something.
ADDISON PUTMAN Frankfort, Herkimer County
He is
25 and boarding or something. He is a son of David and Nancy Putman from
Canajoharie, Montgomery County. He was home in 1880 and in Frankfort, Herkimer
County in 1892, Rotterdam, Schenectady County in 1900, and then will be back in
Canajoharie in 1910 and 1920 with his widowed mom. He is still single in 1920.
He works for the railroad and moves a lot. Dutch of course.
CHARLES PUTMAN German Flats, Herkimer County
He is
50, his wife Mary Van Duessen is 42. He looks to be a
son of William Putnam and Mary Hopkins from here in German Flats and Vermont
before that. William was a son of Alfred and Sophia from Brattleboro, Vermont.
He was born there December 15, 1812. Charles is widowed here in 1900 and 1910.
He will have a new wife Ella here in 1920.
ALBERT PUTMAN Herkimer, Herkimer County
He is 28
and boarding. He looks like the son of David and Maria Putman from Canajoharie,
Montgomery County as shown there in 1880.

48 and his wife Helen 41. He is a son of David Arent Putman and Eve Smith from

JAMES PUTMAN Litchfield, Herkimer County
He is
68 and his wife Margaret has died since 1880. He is a son of Jacob and Mary Ann
Putman and was born here. I don’t find him in 1900.
JOHN PUTMAN Litchfield, Herkimer County
He is
38, Abby Jane Wilcox his wife 41, Samuel 23, Millie 22, Lida
19, Annie (Annabel) 14, John Jr. 11 and Lena 9. All born NY. He is a son of
Jacob and Mary Ann Putman from Litchfield, Herkimer County. They were married
here in 1870 and are here through 1900 and Abby was widowed here with her son
Samuel through 1930 when she was 83.
H. (HORATIO) PUTMAN Little Falls, Herkimer County
He is
39, his wife Louisa 42, and their stepson Amos (last name Batterly
in 1880 and 1900). He is a son of Nicholas Putman. He was born here and shown
with his dad in 1860. He and Louisa were here in 1880 and will be in 1900. Then
he looks like the guy in Fall River, Massachusetts in 1910. That one is widowed
by then. By 1930 he’llhave a new wife and be back in
Fall River again.
STEWART PUTNAM Newport, Herkimer County
He is
now 73 and his wife Anne Eliza Klock is 70. He was
born here and will be here till he dies next year in 1893. He is a son of
Gardner and Hannah Putnam originally from Massachusetts. Also
here as they were in 1880 is their married daughter Emma E. Whitney 35 and her
husband Charles Whitney 39. This is one of the few New England families in
Herkimer County all the myriad others are Dutch Putmans out of Montgomery
County.
ARTHUR PUTMAN Norway, Herkimer County
He is
41, His wife Littie 39 (listed 51, bad writing) and
they have Mamie 19, Calvin 16 and Libbie 10. He is a son of George Putnam and
Elsie Smith as shown in 1860 here in Norway, Herkimer County. A New England
family in the County. His dad was a son of Gardner and Hannah Putnam from here.
His uncle Stewart is listed above.
JOHN M. PUTMAN Russia, Herkimer County
He is
54, his wife Emily E. Vincent 48 and
Allie/Alice 14. He is a son of George Putman and Elsie Smith from here in
Herkimer County.
MAGGIE PUTMAN Russia, Herkimer County
She
is 29 and has Fannie 8 with her. Haven’t a clue as to who Margaret was married
to, but in 1900 she is married to John E. Griffiths and they are in Vienna,
Oneida County and Fanny is there with them.
MINNIE PUTNAM Barre, Orleans County
She
is 38 and boarding or something. She is a daughter of James and Marie Putman
who are in Orleans County. She was here in Barre working on the Grinnell farm
in 1880. She will be back with the family, still single, in 1910. Dutch family
from Schenectady.
CHARLES F. (FREDERICK)
PUTNAM Clarendon, Orleans County
He is
35, His wife Mary Ann Soules is 37 and they have Mary L. 8. The rest of the
page is blacked out but they also have Henry 6, Stella 3. He is a son of
Frederick Alonzo Putnam and Sarah Lucinda Martin from here. They are here in
1900 and his widowed mother Lucinda is with them. His dad Frederick died here
March 3, 1897.
HARVEY PUTNAM Murray, Orleans County
He is
32, his wife Ida Housel is 31. They have Walter 4, Iva 1 and Franklin 1. He is
a son of Frederick Alonzo Putnam and Lucinda Martin from Clarendon, Orleans
County. He was born in Montgomery County August 2, 1862 and married Sarah Ellen
Stevens here in Ridgeway April 9, 1882. They are here in 1900. In about 1902,
he and the family will move to Georgiana, Alabama and open a lumber mill. They
will return in 1907. The family will be in Attica, Wyoming County in 1920.
JAY PUTNAM Ridgeway, Orleans County
He is
30, his wife Sarah Ellen Stevens 30 and they have two daughters Jessie 8 and
Fannie 2. He is Ira John Putman, a son of James and Maria Bassett Putman from
here and Montgomery County before that. James is a son of Johannes Lewis Putman
and Margaret Becker from Montgomery County. Dutch folks. He was born in
Montgomery County August 2, 1862 and married Sarah here in Ridgeway April 9,
1882. He will die here February 6, 1911. Sarah is a daughter of George Hood
Stevens and Fannie S. Pratt and was born here in Ridgeway September 24, 1861
and will die in Medina, New York September 19, 1931. Both will be buried here
in Ridgeway at the Otter Creek Cemetery.
ALFRED W. (WILLIS) PUTNAM Ramapo, Rockland County
He is
30, his wife Mary Virdin Wallace is 26 and they have
Ruth 4, Amy 3 and Lillian 1. Everyone was born in Delaware. He is a son of
Orlando Monroe Putnam and Judith Nixon Harris. In fact
his mom is in Camden County right now. Orlando was a son of Calvin Putnam
(1851) and his second wife Ann Clark of Truxton, New York. Orlando was born
there June 3, 1831. Alfred was born December 9, 1860 while the family was in
Little Creek, Delaware. He was with his family in North Plainfield, New Jersey
in 1880. Orlando died there July 1, 1883. Judith will be around in Camden
County New Jersey in 1900 though. She will die January 29, 1910. Alfred and
Mary and the gang are in Glen Rock, Bergen County New Jersey in 1900 and
Midland Township, Bergen County in 1910. Mary will die in 1918 and he is
widowed in Passaic, Bergen County in 1920. He will then marry an Emily in 1921
and they are there in 1930.
WILLIAM PUTMAN Carlisle, Schoharie County
He is
35 and his wife Millie R. 36. They have Jay 7, Walter 4 and Bell 3. He is a son
of John Lewis Putman and Margaret Becker from Root, Montgomery County. They are
here in 1900, 1910 and 1920.
WILLARD G. (GIBSON) PUTMAN Middleburgh, Schoharie County
He is
53, his wife Elizabeth Shufelt is 52. Also here is a niece Nina Shufelt. They were here
in 1880 and all three here in 1900. He is a son of Samuel Putnam number 1242
and Susannah Gibson and grandson of Caleb Putnam (492) and Judith Sibley of
Croydon, New Hampshire. His dad came over to Troy, New York in the 1820s, and
Willard was born there August 21, 1838. He married Elizabeth there May 8, 1863
and they have been around here ever since. She was born in Rensselaerville,
New York May 27, 1842. They are here in 1900 and Elizabeth will die here August
18, 1905 and he’llbe widowed here in 1910.
EUGENE PUTMAN Sharon Schoharie County
He is
39, his wife Jennie E. 33 and they have Grace L. 9, Leonard C. 7, Lester E. 4,
and Edna J. 3. He is a farmer. He is a son of Cornelius Putman and Margaret
Smith from Fulton County. Cornelius was a son of Peter Derrick and Maria
Putman. Dutch family from Fulton County and before that Montgomery County. They
are here in 1900 and will be in 1920 and 1930.
PETER PUTMAN Sharon, Schoharie County
He is
30 and his wife Hattie Fowler is 19. He is the son of David and Mary Putman
from Root, Montgomery County. He was at home in 1870 and single there in 1880
at age 18. He should be the one in Johnstown, Fulton County in 1910 through
1930. That Peter is married to Maggie Lyons. She was from Canada and those two
were married in 1895 so this could well be the same Peter with different wives.
Dutch folks at any rate.
ADAM PUTNAM Horicon, Warren County
He is
61, Pauline Monroe his wife 59 and Czar 31, Charles 22, Ida 20, and Lewis L.
15. His parents were Aaron Putnam and Joanna Neff. They are here in 1900 and he
is widowed here in 1910 with his then married daughter Mary. Dutch family from
Montgomery and then Fulton County.
ENOS O. (ORLANDO) PUTNAM Johnsburg, Warren County
He is
58 and widowed again. He has George 29, Martha 24 and Kate 16. He is a son of
Enos Putnam (2670) and Sybil Daily of Rutland County Vermont and then here in
Warren County. His dad was a preacher here and then moved to north to St.
Lawrence County. He has been married a couple of times. Margaret Little was his
first. They were married in Johnsburg March 24, 1857. She was born in Achater, Farmanangh, Ireland. She
died in 1886 and he married Eunice Ann Phillips in 1887. She has died in the
last year or so. He’s not gonna try it again. In 1900
he is living with his son George and daughter Catherine who is married to
Albert Armstrong by then. Same in 1910 when he is 74.
FRANCIS O. (OSMOND) PUTNAM Johnsburg, Warren County
He is
54, his wife Julia Richardson is 53 and they have at home Elliot 24 and Mary
Ann 12. He is another son of Enos Putnam (2670) and Sybil Daily of Rutland
County Vermont and then here in Warren County. He is a Methodist preacher like
his dad. He will die here in 1897. Julia will die in 1908, but I am not sure
where.
IRA H. PUTNAM Luzerne, Warren County
He is
58, Louise M. Guyette his second wife is 41, and they
have Ida E. 22, Frank I. 20, John D. 18, Nelson C. 16, Lillian J. 13, Anna M.
11, Fanny B. 9, Bertha L. 8, Pearl J. 6. They will have another son Clarence in
1893. They are all in Washington County in 1900 and back here in Glen Falls,
Warren County by 1910. He is a son of Cornelius and Ann Putnam from Luzerne
here in Warren County. Cornelius was a son of Asaph Putnam and Rhoda Brown out
of Vermont.
CHARLES A. PUTMAN Queensbury, Warren County
He is
45 and his wife Julia Harrington is 37. They have Harry W. 12, Helen M. 10 and
Frank L. 1. Also here is Harriet Fish 67 and Charlie’s dad George Washington
Putnam 86. Charles is a son of George and Laura Putnam from Saratoga County New
York. He was born there in January 1852. His dad is a a
son of Archelaus Putnam (1903) and Martha Hawkins from Moreau, Saratoga County.
He has been there since the 1830s but was born back in Reading Vermont July 6,
1806. Charles is here in 1900 and They are in Altamont, Franklin County by
1910.
MARCELLA PUTMAN Queensbury, Warren County
She
is 46, and there is George 20 or 30 and Ida 31 or 21. Can’t figure them out.
There are several Palmer families around and they may be Palmers. Writing hard
to read.
EVA PUTNAM Arcadia, Wayne County
She is
listed as 52 and has Jennie Allerton 35 with her and also her mother Lavinia
Allerton 82. She was with her mother Lavinia Allerton in 1870 and will be in
1900, 1905 and 1910 when she is 99 years old. Since I don’t find her married in
1860, I don’t know which Putnam she married and I assume he was killed in the
Civil War going on at that time.
